I was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. I resided in Philadelphia for 17 yrs and now live in Indian Wells, California. I graduated from Concordia University and McGill University's Teachers College in St. Anne de Bellevue, Quebec. I specialized in botanical watercolors for 15 yrs. Now I'm enjoying painting in oils, acrylic and multi-media for the last several years.
My love of flowers, gardens and landscapes became my passion during the two years I lived in England. During that time I studied flower arranging and china painting. Upon moving to the US, I began studying botanical illustration with Joan Frain, a botanical artist of more than 30 years. For two summers, I returned to England to take week-long master classes with Anne Marie Evans.
My botanical work has been exhibited for twelve years at the juried Philadelphia Flower Show, also the Chester County Art Association, the Morris Arboretum of the University of Pennsylvania, The Chanticleer Gardens and various galleries in the area. I also exhibited my "Phalaenopsis Orchid" at a show for The National Capital Orchid Society, Washington DC, where I won a third place ribbon.
For several years I have been painting in an open studio with the renowned painter Valentina Raschenko Lamdin. Because of her, oil painting has become my new passion! My frequent travels provide me with a variety of subject matter. I started oil painting initially with plein-air classes. I have taken two week-long workshops with the late Caroline Jasper. a colorist. My inspiration comes from experimenting and learning something new every time I pick up my brush or pallet knife. I won a third place ribbon for my pallet knife oil painting 'Mountain Stream" in the Idyllwild judged show "Uncorked", and a first place ribbon for my botanical watercolor "Phalaenopsis" in the Riverside County Fair. I have exhibited my oil painting "Yucca Plant" in a show at the University of Southern California in Palm Desert, and have been in "Best of Show" at Venus Studio, Palm Desert, CA.
Recently, I have exhibited in seven different shows: 1) at the "Midddle Ridge Winery and Tasting Gallery" in Idyllwild CA., 2) at "Create Arts" in Palm Desert, CA, 3) at Cambria Galleries in "The Art Walk" in Palm Desert, CA, and 4) as part of International Women's Day, March 8, 2017, I was part of the nationwide "Women in the Arts" exhibit at the La Quinta Museum, in La Quinta, CA. 5) Artist Council of the Palm Springs Art Museum at the University of California, Riverside 6) Artspresso Gallery, in Idyllwid, CA.7) Metamorphosis Show, Palm Springs Art Museum 2019.
